Christian Dior Fall/Winter 2018 Collection Lady Dior Studded Ultra Black Bag
The iconic house of Christian Dior was founded in 1946 and revolutionised post-war fashion. The debut collection founded a 'New Look', a phrase coined by US Harper's Bazaar editor Carmel Snow. From that moment the house was inundated with orders and world famous stars such as Rita Hayworth and Margot Fonteyn were showcasing their favourite pieces. A private collection was presented to the British Royal Family and the profile of the luxury brand continued to rise. Of all the iconic fashion moments this brand is renowned for, the most celebrated is the creation of the classic Lady Dior bag.
The original Lady Dior bag was produced in 1994 in microfiber and was named the Chouchou — a French idiom describing the best in class or the teacher’s pet. It was renamed the lady Dior almost a year after its creation when Princess Dianna was shown carrying it on the cover of a London newspaper. Since then the design has remained synonymous with the house of Dior and continues to be embellished, coloured and reinterpreted in new ways each season.
Why we love this Lady Dior Studded Ultra Black Bag
From the Fall/Winter 2018 Collection this extraordinary bag is as rare as it is beautiful. At the time of release it was one of only 18 available in all of Oceania. This bag showcases the brand's dedication to fine craftsmanship, taking eight hours to make and the skill of seven artisans. We love how the studded detailing on this bag draws attention to the iconic cannage quilting. Finished with 'Ultra Black' hardware this bag celebrates a more edgy and modern collection.
Dior's new look is thanks to renowned feminist Maria Grazia Chiuri. She is the first ever woman to head their couture collections, ready-to-wear, resort, pre-collections and all accessories. Making all statement pieces produced in her collections for Dior particularly collectable. Maria Grazia has created some of the most iconic accessories in fashion history. At Fendi she launched the baguette bag in 1989 which was dubbed the world's first 'It-bag'. Ten years later she was poached by Valentino and created the profit-soaring Rockstud shoes and bags. Don't miss an opportunity to procure the next piece of fashion iconography to go down in history.
