1.18ct Oval Faceted Natural Sapphire & Diamond (0.82ct) Ring Set in Platinum

Sapphire is a precious gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum, consisting of aluminum oxide with trace amounts of elements. The English word "sapphire" derives from the Latin 'sapphirus' or 'sappirus' from the Greek. Some linguists propose that it derives from Sanskrit and means "Saturn" which is why traditional Hindu belief holds the sapphire causes the planet Saturn to be favorable to the wearer. Culturally, the sapphire is the traditional gift for a 45th wedding anniversary and the traditional birthstone of September. An Italian superstition holds that sapphires are amulets against eye problems, and melancholy. Pope Innocent III even created a decree in medieval times that rings of bishops should be set with an unengraved sapphire. It was said the rings were a symbol of possessing the virtues and qualities essential to its dignified position as a seal of secrets. Whichever way you look at it, this oval faceted natural Sapphire & Diamond ring is sure to turn heads and remind the wearer of its special meaning everyday. Perfect for pairing with any ring stack or as a stand alone statement piece.
